| Many people suffer from allergies, but have never actually been diagnosed. Some of the symptoms include runny nose, headaches, itchy and watery eyes, difficulty concentrating, coughing, loss of taste or smell, ear itching or clogging, and sleep disturbances. |

Allergies happen when your body’s immune system reacts to substances that wouldn’t cause a reaction in most people. Your immune system “misreads” something that is otherwise completely harmless. In our allergy clinic we test for 39 inhalant allergens which are common in this area. They are dog, cat, cockroach, dust mites, molds, trees, weeds and grasses. Together we will see the results from these tests within an hour. We then advise you on the options you have in treating your allergies. We are also equipped to help you determine if you have food allergies. |

Allergy Treatment

| If you and your doctor decide that immunotherapy is the best option for treating your allergies, we will take you through that process. In order to change a person’s immune system to stop over-reacting to allergens, we use gradual desensitization by injecting extracts of those allergens. Normally those injections are given once a week for a number of months and then we begin to slow down to bi-monthly and eventually to just once a month. The goal is to make you feel better while cutting back or eliminating your allergy medications.. |

Linda Biggers, Manager and Clinician

 Linda Biggers is a native to Sonoma County and has been a Medical Assistant for the past 25 years. Her education was through Santa Rosa Junior College and Boston Reed College. She is trained in all aspects of assisting Otolaryngology Surgeons as well as General and Vascular Surgeons. She was recently trained and certified as a Phlebotomist. She also trained with the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and is a member of that organization. Her most recent training was through ALK Abello. Linda is the manager and clinician of our Allergy Clinic and works under the direction of our Otolaryngology physicians. |
